How To Lose Weight Fast With Exercise At Home For Women

Women are often faced with the challenge of finding the most successful way to lose weight. Working out at the gym can seem intimidating with so many other people who are in better physical shape surrounding you. The alternative to working out at the gym or taking expensive classes is working out at home. Women at home can use a variety of methods to lose weight successfully at home.

Workout DVDs

The most popular option for women at home to lose weight with exercise at home is to purchase workout DVDs. Today there are dvds on the market for nearly every type of fitness routine. From power yoga to pilates to cardio boxing to the popular Zumba. With a little space in your living room and a pair of sneakers women can exercise at home with ease. The average workout routine ranges from 30 to 45 minutes. Depending on what type of fitness level you are trying to accomplish, you can determine which workout is best suited for women at home.

Yoga and Pilates are popular at home options because they help build long, lean muscles while burning calories and reducing stress on the joints. Zumba or other cardio dance workouts are a great option for low-impact cardio that will whittle your middle quickly while providing a total body workout. The benefit to workout dvds is that they are composed by fitness professionals and are available for a variety of skill levels. Additionally you can avoid the feelings of insecurity for not knowing certain moves by completing them in the privacy of your own home.

Fitness Channels

Women at home can lose weight with exercise at home from fitness channels. FitTV is available as part of most standard cable packages. There are a variety of workouts available ranging from yoga, step aerobics and cardio boxing. With many people choosing to opt out of the high cost of cable packages, there is also the option of using a media streaming box such as Roku. Roku allows users to subscribe to various channels such as The Gym Box and SportsSkool Fitness. These channels offer new workouts every week that range from weight lifting to core exercises to cardio routines.

At Home Gym Equipment

When compared to the cost of maintaining a gym membership, purchasing fitness equipment for exercise at home is an attractive option for women at home to lose weight. Today's models of fitness equipment are streamlined to fit in smaller spaces. An elliptical machine can be found for around $ 600. It is one of the few exercise machines that is best suited for women. It offers a complete home workout that burns fat and builds muscle on the entire body. There are different levels of intensity as well as pre-programmed workouts for increasing cardio strength, fat burning and interval training. Free weights can be added to any workout to increase the effectiveness of any routine. These can be ankle or wrist weights to help be most effective.

Neurodegenerative Disorders – Ayurvedic Herbal Treatment

Neurodegenerative disorders form a group of diseases in which there is a progressive loss of structure or function of neurons or nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord, resulting in progressive degeneration and death of the nerve cells causing problems with movement (ataxia) or with mental functioning (dementia). These disorders are characterized by a standard pathological process involving inflammation; oxidative stress; abnormal depletion or insufficient synthesis of neurotransmitters; and genetic mutations, causing damage to protein synthesis and premature cell death. This results in aggregation or deposit of abnormal protein clumps in various parts of the brain and spinal cord, and characteristic symptoms which help in identifying specific diseases. More than 200 such diseases are listed in this group; the commonly known diseases include Alzheimer’s disease (AD), Parkinson’s disease (PD), Huntington’s disease (HD), Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), and Ataxias [including Spino-Cerebellar Ataxia (SCA)].

AD is characterized by cognitive impairment causing loss of memory; disturbance in reasoning, planning, language and perception; and behavioral changes. This disease causes deposits of fibril clumps of abnormal β amyloid protein known as senile plaques. This causes gross atrophy and degeneration of different parts of the brain including the temporal lobe, parietal lobe, parts of the frontal cortex, and the lingulate gyrus.

PD is a chronic and progressive movement disorder characterized by slow movement (bradykinesia), rigidity, resting tremor, and postural instability. There is an abnormal accumulation of protein known as Lewy bodies, causing death of dopamine generating cells in the substantia nigra, a region of the midbrain. Both AD and PD are usually associated with advanced age.

HD is an adult onset, autosomal dominant, inherited disorder characterized by involuntary movements, dementia, and behavioral changes. There is a loss of neurons in the basal ganglia and frontal and temporal cortex. The subthalamic nuclei send control signals to the globus pallidus which initiates and modulates motion. Weaker signals cause reduced initiation and modulation of movement resulting in the characteristic choreiform (repetitive, rapid and jerky) movements of HD.

ALS is a disease in which motor neurons are selectively targeted for degeneration. Motor neurons are nerve cells located in the brain, brainstem and spinal cord which serve as controlling units and communication links between the nervous system and voluntary muscles of the body. Motor neurons in the brain are known as upper motor neurons while those in the spinal cord are known as lower motor neurons. ALS is a rapidly progressive neurological disease affecting both the upper and lower motor neurons. There is a loss of voluntary control over arms, legs, and respiratory muscles. Muscle wasting, atrophy, and twitching (fasciculation) cause problems with movement, dysphagia (difficulty in swallowing), dysarthria (difficulty in speech) and spasticity. Sensory function and cognition are usually well maintained. ALS pathology includes protein aggregates, mutation in the gene encoding the antioxidant Superoxide Dismutase 1 (SOD 1), and mutation in chromosome 9. The mutation first acts on the local astrocytes, which later causes a toxic effect on the entire motor neuron.

Ataxias are a group of neurological disorders in which there is degeneration and atrophy of the cerebellum, causing abnormal and uncoordinated movements, gait abnormalities, fine motor in-coordination, speech and swallowing difficulties, visual abnormalities, increased fatigue, and cognitive and mood problems. Ataxia types include episodic ataxia, idiopathic ataxia, ataxia telangiectasia, oculo-motor apraxia, vitamin E deficiency ataxia, and COQ10 deficiency ataxia. Freidrich’s ataxia is an autosomal recessive variety. SCA is an autosomal dominant cerebellar ataxia. It has subtypes 1, 2 and 3; SCA 7 is a slightly different type where vision abnormalities precede the ataxia.

There is currently no cure for neurodegenerative disorders; conservative treatment is mainly symptomatic and supportive in nature. Vitamins and supplements are given to help reduce symptoms or slow down the rate of progression of the disease. Occupational therapy and physiotherapy are given to maintain muscle strength and tone. Medications are given to reduce anxiety, induce sleep, reduce pain and twitching, increase blood supply to the brain, and to help balance neurotransmitters.

In this scenario, Ayurvedic treatment has a special role to play in the comprehensive management and control of neurodegenerative diseases. Preclinical and clinical studies have conclusively shown that herbal medicines bring about autoimmune modulation and neuro-protection; reduce inflammation in nerve cells; reduce mitochondrial damage; and possess antioxidant properties.

Ayurvedic treatment is therefore very useful in improving general body immunity as well as specific immunity of the nervous system. Ayurvedic medicines strengthen the nervous system and bring about immunomodulation where there are definite signs of immune mediated damage. Herbal medicines reduce abnormal protein synthesis and aggregation, and help remove abnormal protein deposits. These medicines also help reduce nerve inflammation and help repair and reduce demyelination. Ayurvedic treatment helps improve muscle strength, tone, and neuromuscular coordination; helps rebuild damaged nerves and damaged and dysfunctional parts of the brain; modulates and halts programmed cell death of nerve cells; reduces and reverses mitochondrial dysfunction and genetic mutation; and also helps reduce damage due to the hereditary component of nerve degeneration.

Currently, scientific treatment of neurodegenerative disorders with Ayurvedic medicines is still in the infancy stage, with drug regimes being planned more on a clinical basis to treat functional impairment. This approach is reaping good dividends; affected individuals – with a previous lack of response to all medications – have started improving at a significant pace. Hopefully – in the near future – specifically targeted treatments will emerge, which will treat and reverse damage in specific parts of the nervous system. This will help expedite treatment results, and identify uniform treatment approaches, which in turn will help reduce the devastating effects these diseases have on affected individuals, and hopefully bring about a complete remission.

Benefits of Using a Zafu for Meditation

Zafus – Creating Proper Posture Daily

Meditation has been practiced for thousands of years in Eastern cultures as a means of finding truth and enlightenment. Today it has been picked up by many westerners as a means of relieving stress and strain in their daily lives. However, many westerners find the traditional lotus sitting position on the bare ground a bit too strenuous on their bottom and legs; therefore, the use of a zafu is recommended to provide greater comfort. A zafu is the name given to a special cushion you can sit on for meditating. They help you maintain the correct posture as well as provide comfort for your bottom during your session.

Filling Meditation Cushions

Zafus are manufactured out of cotton fabrics with natural fiber kapok filling. They come in a variety of colors, shapes, sizes and designs to suit personal taste and preference. They also come with removable covers, facilitating the laundering when the exterior becomes soiled. The traditional zafu is round; however, other shapes are coming out on the market to offer variation and levels of comfort. These cushions also vary in size and thickness to adjust to a person’s body and weight level for individualized comfort.

Thickness of the Zafu

There are advantages to using a meditation cushion as opposed to any other type cushion for your sessions. These cushions are especially designed for meditation; the kapok filling provides a firm, yet pliable surface to sit on for comfort and back posture, and the natural fibers are both hygienic and hypoallergenic, making them a perfect selection for those who are prone to allergies. In addition, the diversity in thickness and size can complement the size and weight of your body, customizing your cushion to your exact specifications. Each cushion comes with its own cover (or you can purchase separately) that can be easily removed for washing when the need arises.

Different-Shaped Zafus

New zafu styles include the crescent shape cushion designed to provide additional space for your bottom. Thickness of the cushion can be self adjusted by adding or removing kapok to the desired depth, providing extra padding for heavier set people or less for those who are thinner and smaller boned. For those who desire more height, support cushions are available to place under the zafu, raising your body to a higher level.

Meditation Chairs – The Throne of Meditation

As an alternative to these cushions, some people prefer to use a meditation chair during their sessions. You should feel free to use whatever is most comfortable for you and helps you focus on meditating itself so you can fully benefit from the experience. Meditating offers a number of wonderful mental and physical benefits to the body which can help improve your mental and physical health, regardless of the seating arrangement used.

Bruce Lee Training and Workouts – Isometrics and Free Weights

Most people are under the misconception that the Bruce Lee training and workouts consist of only free weights.

In reality, Bruce believed in using different techniques and apparatus to chisel his body into a hard, ripped and muscular physique. The Bruce Lee body was years ahead of it's time. Remember, back in the 70s Hollywood movie stars were not in great physical shape even if their roles demanded it. That is no longer true today.

This is another area that Bruce Lee can be credited with.

The first Bruce Lee training and workout program was structured by a friend of his who was a bodybuilder. The exercise routine controlled of lifting heavy weights and using compound movements. Exercises like the bench press, clean and jerk, squats etc.

However, Lee did not like the type of muscle size and strength that these type of workouts created. He preferred what he called "Functional Strength."

The bodybuilders workout routine left him too "bulky." (In reality, the first type of workout that Bruce Lee used was isometric exercises or static contracting exercises.)

He also used an "Isometrics Power Rack" and a isometric exerciser called the – Tensolator.

He found that the Tensolator was excellent for building his trapping strength and his 1 inch punch. After an injury using free weights – Bruce continued to incorporate isometrics, bodyweight exercises, electrical muscle stimulators and a variety of different exercise equipment in his workout routine.

Bruce was quoted as saying that isometrics was great for building both tendon and muscular strength. Which as a martial artist suited him well. If you want to build muscle size then the best workout routine would include isotonic and isometric training.

That is where the Tensolator has a big advantage over many other exercise devices. It could be used with isometrics or isotonic training. Today, the old Tensolator has been completely redesigned for the 21st century.

Thirty something years later the training concepts in the Bruce Lee training and workouts – are still in use today.

Simple and Powerful Hair Growth Stimulants That Grow a Healthy and Long Mane

One bad news about hair growth advice is that it is very difficult to obtain a universal formula that works the best on everyone's hair. That being said, there is a bright side to it all. After the fact that trial and error will be the best method for you to discover what best affects the rate of growth of your mane. The most important things when it comes to growing a healthy mane are a healthy diet and hair products that are specific for your hair type. In this article I will show you simple hair growth stimulants you can use to grow a longer mane fast

A proper diet is named the number one. When it comes to stimulating hair growth. What is universally advised is that you should have a high and daily intake of protein, lots of water and vitamins in order to support the growth of your mane. Protein is the only thing that constituents our hair, so if you eat foods that are rich in protein your hair is likely to benefit from it. For vegetarians, tofu and soybean are valuable protein sources which are equal to the more common meat and eggs.

There are several vitamin sources that are natural hair growth stimulants. The most commonly recommended are fresh vegetables and fruit. In addition to these, multivitamin juices will provide you with the necessary vitamins and minerals you need. S

The best synthetic vitamin products to use are prenatal vitamins. These contain a host of vitamins and minerals needed to encourage faster growing tresses.

As for water, the optimal amount you should drink a day is about eight glasses. Water works to clean your system out of toxins and encourages better immune system function which results in a longer and healthier mane

The list of beneficial hair growth stimulant and treatments continues with the addition of scalp massages and appropriate herbal products. Scalp massages improve scalp blood circulation. As for the hair products, you can use some of the commercially available ones. Make sure you use conditioners fitted for your hair type, such as dry hair conditioners. Be sure to use all natural products if possible. One of the naturally-based shampoos is Mira, which speeds up hair growth.

Furthermore, you can use herbal oils to improve hair growth. The most used ones are rosemary and sage oil, excellent hair growth stimulants. If you apply them regularly, their effect will show in a short period of time.

On the other hand, some things should definitely be avoided when trying to grow a longer mane. The number one candidate is combing your hair while it is wet. This can cause breaking of hair. Also, avoid blowing drying your hair without a hair protector and avoid washing your hair too frequently. All these things will adversely affect your hair if you do not stay clear of them.

Other stimulants that negatively affect hair growth include some chemicals that are contained in shampoos, such as lauryl sulfate, petroleum and sodium lauryl sulfate.

The most important thing is that you lead a healthy lifestyle that is free from drugs and alcohol. Remember that nothing will help your hair if you let these things ruin your overall health. You should also make it a point to use a good herbal oil as discussed above. The best one being Mira oil. Use it twice a week for a faster growing mane.

To sum up, your hair will bear the consequences of your overall body and health treatment. Proper nutrition, abundant in hair growth stimulants, leads to enhanced hair quality. With that in mind focus on finding the best possible way to treat your hair because it is worth the trouble.

Tips For Looking Shredded

Many call Bodybuilding a science, but it's really a combination of science and art. It's hard enough to pack on pounds of muscle, but then to strip body fat while keeping all that lean muscle is really an amazing feat. Regardless of genetics, chemicals and diet, looking shredded on stage requires more than your basic fundamentals. Here are some tips for those of you who need to bring the shredded wheat! I'll bring the milk …

1.) TAN. That's right: tan, tan and then tan some more! Notice how even Caucasian bodybuilders almost look black on stage? That's because the oils and lights on their bodies will show definition much better the darker they are. There are a number of fake tanners on the market that deliver a nice orange glow. But to look really legitimate, you should tan in the sun or in a bed. Beside steroids, this is perhaps one of the unhealthiest aspects of bodybuilding. Although your body needs sunlight to synthesize Vitamin D, tanning is dangerous and can lead to skin cancer, premature aging, and the leather-skinned 80's rocker look. Please be sure to use plenty of moisturizers, take plenty of the antioxidants listed on this site, and remember to not leave any part of your body white. Nothing is worse than a pair of ghostly white legs on stage.

2.) DROP WATER. Jay Cutler was criticized during the 2007. Olympia because many thought he was carrying a layer of water under his skin. Water retention and creatine-loading is good during the off-season, but on stage it is a bodybuilder's worst nightmare. Water washes the definition that you have gained by dieting and doing nonstop cardio those past couple months. Be sure to take a water neutralizer like dandelion root, green tea or apple cider vinegar a couple times a day through your contest prep. MHP makes a great product called Xpel, which allows you to flush out undesired water. I have tested this product and it works. Make sure to drink enough water and stay hydrated though – no one like headaches.

3.) DO NOT EASE UP ON TRAINING Just because you want to keep as much muscle as possible does not mean you should be afraid to break a little down before competition. The champion bodybuilders know that you need to train hard right up until the competition. Arnold's famous pre-contest routine is legendary for its difficulty. Remember, recovery is everything. Protein, BCAA's, Glutamine and a Night Time formula will help.

High Volume vs. Heavy Training

Regarding the type of training, it is important to understand how your body responds to different types of training. Some Pros will lift very heavy pre-contest. Others, including myself, will opt for a routine of about 16 sets per muscle group at 15-20 reps. This is especially important for those looking to refine their body and chisel in the definition. Light weights will not get you big, but they can help make you look shredded.

4.) CARDIO. This is a tricky subject to talk about for many experts. Most bodybuilders will bump up cardio sessions to an hour a day, or even two hours a day leading up to a contest. However, some refusal to do any based on the fact that their body can become catabolic. We recommend doing cardio in the morning, after waking up and taking at least 5-10 grams of BCAA's and glutamine. This will help prevent the breakdown of muscle, while the aerobic exercise will strip body fat due to the low levels of glycogen in the morning. If you're not a morning person, hit cardio after weights. I would recommend a moderate to intense pace through the duration. Normally, I recommend HIIT training to strip body fat, but for the purposes of bodybuilding, cycling on a stationary bike or walking uphill on a treadmill should be sufficient.

5.) CARB INTAKE. Without a doubt, every bodybuilder knows that to burn fat, you must deplete your glycogen stores. You can not do this by eating sugar and flour! Your body will not burn fat if it does not have a reason to. An easy way to glycogen deplete is by cycling the amount of carbohydrates consumed on different days. For example, as I write this article, I've consumed only 100 grams of carbs today, and will continue the same for the next 3 days. This will ensure my glycogen stores are depleted and my body will trigger itself to oxidize fat. On the fourth day, I will bump up my carbs to around 400 grams to allow my body the fuel it needs. This should not be done year round, but it is an extremely effective way to diet down, especially before a contest. Follow these guidelines and you'll be on your way to looking totally shredded on stage!

Goats Milk Soap For Acne

Goat milk had taken a back seat since the great fame of cows milk in the skin care and health care industry. That was until one day that the researches and scientists discovered the benefits of goat milk. It has great moisturizing and calming effect for the skin. Goat milk also contain tons of beneficial nutrients that can rejuvenate the skin. If you are trying to improve your acne condition, you might want to consider goats milk soap as your acne combating arsenal.

One major problem with those mainstream acne treatment we have today such as benzoyl peroxide, zinc, Accutane and so on, is that those treatments all cause some harsh side effects to our skin. Those side effects would, most of the time, include heavy and severe irritation and rashes. Yes, they kill the bacterias that cause the formation of acne, but what if they also destroy the structure of your skin? With goat milk, you can now use its moisturizing and rejuvenating effect to calm your skin to balance out the side effects those mainstream treatments have caused.

Benefits Of Using Goat Milk Soap For Your Skin

Goat milk soap greatly benefits our skin since it has the same pH level similar to that of our own skin. Goat milk is also gentle on skin for this reason. Another benefit that goat milk soap has is that it contains natural alpha hydroxy acid, which is a natural exfoliant element that removes dead skin cells from your skin. Hence, it indirectly is able to improve your acne condition.

Goat’s milk also has high amounts of protein, fat, iron, vitamin C and vitamin D, vitamin B and Vitamin A. These beneficial nutrients will help replenish and pamper the skin gently. The vitamins it contains also means that goat milk has some anti-inflammatory properties that can help reduce acne redness. Besides its gentle calming effect, goat’s milk is also used widely to brighten skin’s complexion.

But these benefits cannot do much for your skin if you are using some low quality goat milk soap that only contains modified additives and chemicals. If it is possible, find soap that contains pure goat’s milk for maximum benefits.

So give goat’s milk soap a try. I am not saying that it is guaranteed to remove acne from your skin. It is not that effective for that use but since most of the major acne treatments are destroying your skin as well, why not use some goat’s milk on your face so that it can be healed and calmed?

IUI Pregnancy Success Tips

Getting pregnant through IUI might seem like a very difficult task, but if things work out properly, it’s almost like getting pregnant naturally. If you’re shooting for an IUI pregnancy within the next few months, there are a few things that you can do to prepare your body to undergo the treatment better and to increase your chances of success with IUI. These five tips are pretty easy and natural, so get started on them as soon as you can.

1. Acupuncture Therapy to Help You Conceive with IUI

This might not be the first option your mind jumps to when you think of enhancing your IUI success, but it has been shown to help in many studies and anecdotal cases. Basically, this ancient Chinese medicine regulates the hormones in a way that scientists haven’t quite pinned down yet. Women who undergo acupuncture end up with less stress and even with more and higher quality eggs, which makes IUI more likely to be successful.

2. Visualization Techniques of IUI Conception

Many infertility clinics are actually using this type of therapy for their clients now. Basically, when you are going through IUI, you simply visualize what is going to happen with the sperm and the egg in your body. As with acupuncture, scientists haven’t pinned down the way that visualization works, but there is evidence to show that the mind has great power over the body.

3. Watch Your Food and Drink for Pregnancy Success

One of the main ways to prepare your body for conception is to eat a healthy diet. This holds true no matter whether you’re trying to conceive naturally, through IUI, or through any other ART techniques. The documentation of the link between diet and fertility just keeps building up. You don’t have to obsess over every single thing you put in your mouth, but here are a few tips that will keep your body in good shape before IUI:

* Focus on getting enough whole foods, including vegetables, fruits, and whole grains.

* Get one or two servings a day of full-fat dairy products through milk, yogurt, or cheese, since this has been linked to increased fertility.

* Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated and toxin-free.

* Get a lot of protein from vegetable sources and nuts, but don’t be afraid to work lean proteins from meat into your diet, either.

* Take a daily multivitamin that contains folic acid.

* Avoid alcohol, which can reduce overall fertility and increase your risk of miscarriage.

4. De-stress However You Can to Optimize Fertility

There is a lot of evidence that extreme stress – like the kind that comes from trying unsuccessfully to get pregnant – can reduce your chances of getting pregnant and increase your chances of miscarriage. Besides this, the stress that comes with IUI can make your life a nightmare. Instead of simply living with it, find ways to reduce stress before, during, and after IUI. Taking long walks, doing yoga regularly, and joining a support group are all good options.

5. Take an Expectorant to Help You Get Pregnant with IUI

Cough syrup for IUI? That’s right. This is a good step to take, especially if you’re taking Clomid during an IUI cycle. Clomid – and some natural conditions – can cause cervical mucus to become thick and too hostile to allow sperm to survive. Cough syrup like Robitussin doesn’t just thin out mucus in the lungs, but it can also thin out cervical mucus.

The dosage that you should take varies, but you will want to take a little bit of cough syrup with the active ingredient guaifenesin for a couple of days before your insemination is going to occur. Many women with hostile cervical mucus have had excellent luck with this simple fertility-enhancing step.
